Twins demote Kyle Gibson after another rough start

The Minnesota Twins sent starting pitcher Kyle Gibson down to Triple-A after earning his fourth loss of the year on Thursday.

What It Means:

Gibson was lit up by the Oakland Athletics, giving up eight hits, three walks, and four runs in just four innings pitched. The starter hasn't made it out of the sixth inning in any one of his six starts this season, prompting the demotion. Adalberto Mejia or top prospect Jose Berrios could be called upon to fill Gibson's rotation spot.

Gibson owns an 8.20 ERA, 1.97 WHIP, and a 0-4 record in 26 1/3 innings pitched this season.
