Steven Wright's (knee) season is over for the Red Sox

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Steven Wright will undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee.

What It Means:

Wright has been dealing with knee issues since the start of spring training. After placing him on the disabled list on Monday and seeing a knee specialist on Tuesday, the Red Sox and Wright believe surgery is the best course of action alleviate his knee troubles. He will miss the rest of the season but should be ready for the start of the 2018 season.

Wright finishes the 2017 campaign with a 1-3 record across five starts while recording an 8.25 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 11.4 strikeout percentage in 24 innings pitched.
