Marlins place Edinson Volquez (blister) on 10-day disabled list
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edinson Volquez was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right thumb blister.
The blister opened up on Volquez during Tuesday's start against the Tampa Bay Rays. He walked eight and struck out nine, becoming the first pitcher in MLB history to ever do so in less than five innings. He's not expected to miss more than one turn in the Marlins' rotation.
Volquez has made six starts this season but has only 28 1/3 innings to show for it. He owns an 0-4 record, 4.71 ERA, 1.83 WHIP, 24.1 strikeout percentage and 16.5 percent walk rate.
