Jose Alvarado joining Rays' bullpen on Wednesday
Tampa Bay Rays reliever Jose Alvarado is expected to join the bullpen on Wednesday night against the Miami Marlins.
What It Means:
Alvarado will be replacing Chih-Wei Hu, who was optioned to Triple-A Durham following Tuesday's contest. It's an impressive rise for the 21-year-old southpaw after he started the 2016 season in Low-A Bowling Green.
While working in Double-A Montgomery this season, Alvarado twirled a 2.38 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 33.3 strikeout percentage across 11 1/3 innings.
