Noah Syndergaard (lat) could be looking at three months on shelf

New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard's (lat) initial conservative timetable for recovery is three months, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

What It Means:

On Monday, Syndergaard was diagnosed with a partial tear of his right lat muscle. More will be known on Wednesday once he receives a second opinion. Rafael Montero is scheduled to take the open spot in the Mets' rotation on Friday.

The 24-year-old right-hander opened the season with a strong 2.32 SIERA, 28.1 percent strikeout rate, 1.8 percent walk rate and 1.10 WHIP through five starts (27 1/3 innings pitched).
