Mariners send Dan Vogelbach back down to Triple-A
The Seattle Mariners have optioned first baseman Daniel Vogelbach to Triple-A Tacoma.
Vogelbach was projected to start the season with the Mariners, splitting time with Danny Valencia at first base. However, a rough spring changed plans with the 24-year-old slugger starting the year in the minors. He was recently brought up for a short stint but struggled to hit consistently, prompting another demotion. Valencia will continue at first with Taylor Motter earning the occasional start.
In 17 plate appearances, Vogelbach batted .143 with just two singles, one RBI and four strikeouts.
