Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Steven Wright has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 30, with a sprained left knee.
Wright's knee has been bothering him off and on since spring training. There's no sense of a timetable for his return at this time. Henry Owens, Brian Johnson and Kyle Kendrick are the most likely candidates to replace Wright in the Red Sox rotation.
Wright's 8.25 ERA this season is pretty ugly, but his 5.08 xFIP suggests it hasn't all been his fault. He's also twirled a 1.88 WHIP and 11.4 strikeout percentage while going 1-3 in 24 innings (five starts).
