Mets' Noah Syndergaard has partially torn lat muscle

New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard's MRI revealed a partial tear of his right lat muscle.

What It Means:

Syndergaard was scratched from one start last week due to biceps soreness, and he then made an early exit from Sunday's start with this new injury. There's no word yet on a timetable for his return, but he's expected to miss significant time.

Syndergaard had opened the season with a strong 2.32 SIERA, 28.1 percent strikeout rate, 1.8 percent walk rate and 1.10 WHIP through five starts (27 1/3 innings pitched).
