Arizona's Shelby Miller will have Tommy John surgery
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Shelby Miller has opted to undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, according to Barry M. Bloom of MLB.com.
It's a tough decision for the 26-year old righty, but he acknowledged in an interview with Bloom that, "with where I am in my career and how many years I have ahead of me, I think it's (surgery) the logical thing to do." Miller will miss the rest of the season and his 2018 is in jeopardy now as well.
Over 22 innings pitched in 2016, Miller finishes his season with a 4.09 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 20.2 strikeout rate.
