Joe Mauer sitting in Twins' matchup with Rangers
Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Texas Rangers.
Kennys Vargas is starting at first base and hitting fifth against left-hander Cole Hamels and the Texas Rangers. Mauer, who turned 34 last week, is in the midst of the worst statistical season of his career and is no longer a fantasy factor.
Mauer is slashing only .236/.276/.278 with a .248 wOBA and .042 ISO this season across 76 plate appearances. He has no home runs and six RBI's through 19 games.
