Mariners designate Leonys Martin for assignment
The Seattle Mariners designated outfielder Leonys Martin for assignment.
Martin is slashing just .111/.172/.130 on the year but with his defense and base stealing upside, it's a little surprising the Mariners let him go. With a $4.85 million salary, he will likely clear waivers, but Martin should find employment elsewhere. Seattle promoted Daniel Vogelbach with the move, while Guillermo Heredia is in left field and batting seventh on Sunday.
numberFire's models project Heredia for 0.94 hits over 4.0 plate appearances on Sunday with a 43.0 percent chance of scoring a run and a 33.0 percent chance of a RBI.
