Jason Bourgeois to leadoff for Reds for second consecutive night
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jason Bourgeois will bat leadoff for the team for the second consecutive night Thursday as the Reds face the Arizona Diamondbacks.
With Billy Hamilton on the disabled list and Brandon Phillips day-to-day, the Reds' options are limited at the top of the order. Eugenio Suarez will bat second with Joey Votto third and Todd Frazier back in the clean-up spot after hitting sixth Wednesday.
You generally want a batter with a higher on-base percentage than Bourgeois's .275 batting leadoff. Bourgeois has struggled to find his stroke since coming off of the disabled list in late June, though he did have a single and draw two walks Wednesday. Bourgeois's hard-hit rate over that time is 19.5 percent.
