Rangers' Joey Gallo has first career multi-homer game
Texas Rangers third baseman/outfielder Joey Gallo crushed two home runs and knocked in three runs in a win over the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
Gallo broke a tie with a two-run rocket that went 462 feet off Royals' starter Nathan Karns in the second inning, actually slamming into a popcorn stand on the concourse. His second homer was a solo moonshot in the fifth -- also off Karns -- that traveled to the second deck in right-center field. The 23-year-old is still striking out a ton, but he's at least putting up the power numbers to go with the swing-and-miss.
Our models project Gallo for a .227 batting average across 265 more plate appearances this year, with 13 more home runs, 30 runs, 32 RBI's, and even 5 more stolen bases. That'll likely come along with a 39.6 percent strikeout rate, however.
