Phillies say Hector Neris will get call in ninth if necessary
Philadelphia Phillies reliever Hector Neris will be used in the event of a save opportunity on Friday against the Atlanta Braves, according to manager Pete Mackanin.
Neris converted his first save opportunity of the season on Thursday against the New York Mets and it appears it could be his job to lose moving forward. Joaquin Benoit will return to a setup role but remains a threat for the occasional close.
Across 8 1/3 innings (eight appearances) this season, Neris has given up just two hits and zero runs while striking out nine and walking two.
