Indians expect Jason Kipnis (shoulder) to debut Friday

Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Friday.

What It Means:

Kipnis will take over as the Indians' everyday second baseman after opening the year in the minors on a rehab assignment for his shoulder. As a result, Jose Ramirez will be moved to third and Yandy Diaz is expected to be sent down to Triple-A. Across seven games for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, Kipnis went 4-for-20 (.200).

numberFire's metrics project Kipnis to record a .274 batting average this season while tallying 13 home runs, 68 RBI's and 14 stolen bases across 602 plate appearances.
