Athletics' Marcus Semien goes under knife for right wrist

Oakland Athletics infielder Marcus Semien underwent right wrist surgery as scheduled on Tuesday.

What It Means:

Semien will be shut down for at least six weeks and he's likely going to be out for at least two months of games. Adam Rosales and Chad Pinder are next up on the Athletics' roster at shortstop. Top prospect Franklin Barreto could also be called up sooner than expected.

Semien was hitting .171/.370/.229 with one RBI, five runs scored and four stolen bases in 46 plate appearances this season.
