Oakland's Marcus Semien will undergo wrist surgery
Oakland Athletics shortstop Marcus Semien (wrist) will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his right wrist.
Semien originally hurt his wrist in spring training but managed to play through the pain for 11 games. He now needs a screw inserted into his wrist and will be re-evaluated in six weeks. Adam Rosales has filled in at short the last three games and will continue doing so for the foreseeable future.
Semien was hitting .171/.370/.229 with one RBI, five runs scored and four stolen bases in 46 plate appearances this season.
