New York Mets reliever Seth Lugo (elbow) will begin a throwing program on Tuesday.
Lugo received a platelet-rich plasma injection for a "slight" tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and was shut down for two weeks. He remains out indefinitely as the 27-year-old right-hander tries to rehab the injury in an effort to avoid Tommy John surgery.
In 17 games (eight starts) last season, Lugo twirled a 2.67 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 17.3 strikeout percentage across 64 innings for the Mets.
