Eduardo Rodriguez placed on Boston's paternity leave list

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez has been placed on the paternity leave list.

What It Means:

Rodriguez is with his wife tending to the birth of a new baby boy. Brian Johnson will likely take the left-hander's scheduled start against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Rodriguez has recorded a 5.23 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 30.2 strikeout percentage through 10 1/3 innings so far in his third year in the majors.
