Mets' Jacob deGrom strikes out 13 in a no-decision
New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom allowed two earned runs, four hits and a walk with a career-high 13 strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision Saturday in Miami.
deGrom was pulled at the 97 pitch-mark in favor of the Mets bullpen, who promptly blew the game with a three-run homer allowed to Christian Yellich in the eighth inning. Mets manager Terry Collins noted that the team is being careful with deGrom early in the year and not allowing him to pitch into the eighth, but even without a win this was a nice outing for the Mets' young hurler.
Our models project deGrom to post a 3.58 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 155 strikeouts over 163.4 innings remaining this season.
