Travis d'Arnaud lifts Mets to victory in 16-inning marathon

New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud had a monster game Thursday, going 4-for-6 with a home run, four RBI's and three runs scored in a 16-inning, 9-8 defeat of the Miami Marlins.

What It Means:

It was d'Arnaud's solo blast in the 16th that proved to be the winning score, but he was plenty busy right out the gate, giving the Mets their first three runs of the game with a triple in the second inning. He's now gone 7-for-13 (.539) over his last three games with a double, a triple, two home runs, seven RBI's and five runs scored. Hopefully, this is an indicator of what to expect from the 28-year-old backstop this season.

numberFire's models currently project d'Arnaud to hit .238 over the remainder of the season with 14 doubles, 9 home runs and 27 RBI's across 347 plate appearances.
