Andrew Cashner

Andrew Cashner the favorite to start for Rangers on Saturday

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Andrew Cashner (biceps) is the "front-runner" to start on Saturday versus the Seattle Mariners, according to manager Jeff Bannister.

What It Means:

Cashner is coming off a 76-pitch extended spring training game on Monday where he declared himself ready to join the Rangers rotation. The 30-year-old pitcher had suffered from right biceps tendinitis late in spring training and is on the 10-day disabled list. Saturday is the first day the Rangers need a fifth starter. If Cashner is unable to play, Nick Martinez will likely make his first start of the year.

numberFire's models project Cashner for a 4.88 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 151 innings pitched this season.
