Greg Bird (flu, ankle) back in action for Yankees versus Tampa Bay
New York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird (ankle, illness) is in the starting lineup Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
What It Means:
This will be Bird's first contest since April 7 due to a sore right ankle and flu-like symptoms. He's starting at first and hitting sixth versus right-hander Matt Andriese and the Rays.
Bird has opened the season 1-for-16 at the plate with seven strikeouts in four games.
