Phillies' Clay Buchholz suffers partial tear in right arm

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Clay Buchholz's MRI revealed that he is suffering from a partial tear of the right flexor pronator mass in his right arm.

What It Means:

Buchholz will seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on Monday, but this is looking like it could require a major operation. The injury occurred Tuesday while the 32-year-old right-hander was throwing a pitch in the third inning against the Miami Marlins.

Buchholz's Phillies career has gotten off to a rough start, to say the least, as he owns a 12.27 ERA with a 2.59 WHIP and five strikeouts in just 7 1/3 innings pitched this season.
