Greg Bird (flu, ankle) still out of action Wednesday for Yankees

New York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird (illness, ankle) is out of the starting lineup again on Wednesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays.

What It Means:

Flu-like symptoms and a sore right ankle have kept Bird on the pine since last Friday. Chris Carter is starting at first for the Yankees on Wednesday and he'll bat cleanup versus lefty Blake Snell and the Rays.

Carter is hitting .154 (2-for-13) through his first 16 plate appearances this season while driving in two runs and striking out on four separate occasions.
