Phillies' Clay Buchholz leaves start early with forearm strain

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Clay Buchholz left Tuesday's start in the third inning with what is being called a right forearm strain.

What It Means:

Buchholz was not at his best in the start, allowing six runs on eight hits with one walk in 2 1/3 innings. An MRI will most likely come by Wednesday with a disabled list stint looking probable. Zach Eflin, who was just activated from the disabled list himself, is the most likely candidate to fill in if Buchholz does indeed miss some time.

Buchholz's Phillies career has gotten off to a rough start as he owns a 12.27 ERA with a 2.59 WHIP and five strikeouts in just 7 1/3 innings pitched this season.
