San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey has been placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list.
Posey was plunked by a fastball on his batting helmet Monday afternoon, and while it's not thought to be anything too severe, the Giants want to err on the side of caution. Nick Hundley projects to soak up most of Posey's minutes and Tim Federowicz has been called up from Triple-A to play backup.
Posey is 7-for-21 (.333/.481/.571 slash) in the season's early goings with one tater, four runs scored and two RBI's in 27 plate appearances.
