Matt Boyd looks sharp on Tuesday as Tigers down the Twins

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Boyd allowed just one hit over six scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday.

What It Means:

Boyd had a no-hitter going through five innings before give up a single to Robbie Grossman in his final inning of work. He finished the game allowing just three baserunners (one hit, two walks) while fanning six. Overall, it was a great bounce back game from Boyd's season debut where he allowed five runs in 2 1/3 innings to the Chicago White Sox.

Boyd owns an 1-1 record, 5.40 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and eight strikeouts (21.1 percent) in 8 1/3 innings pitched this season.
