Boston's Pablo Sandoval belts first homer of season

Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run home run in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers.

What It Means:

Sandoval was almost the hero of the game as his three-run blast capped a five-run eighth inning and put the Red Sox up 5-4. However, the bullpen promptly blew the game, allowing two runs in the bottom half of the frame. The third baseman looks to be in great shape this season, possibly sparking a bounce back season.

For the remainder of the season, our models project Sandoval for a .262 batting average, 8 home runs, 40 RBI's, and 36 runs scored in 386 plate appearances.
