Ivan Nova terrific over six innings in Pirates' win on Friday
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Ivan Nova held the Atlanta Braves to one unearned run over six innings of work in Friday's 5-4 win.
Nova allowed just six hits while striking out four in his first start of the year. The former Yankee did all he could to keep the Braves off the board, but an error by Gregory Polanco in the fifth inning led to the unearned run. He will take on the Cincinnati Reds in his next start.
NumberFire's algorithms project Nova for 10 wins, a 3.89 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 128 strikeouts over 159 2/3 over the rest of the season.
