Astros' Collin McHugh (arm) forced to leave rehab start early

Houston Astros pitcher Collin McHugh (arm) exited his rehab start on Thursday with tightness in his right elbow and biceps.

What It Means:

McHugh will likely undergo an MRI over the weekend, but he could be looking at a pretty significant setback. The 29-year-old right-hander has been bothered by arm issues since the beginning of spring training. A prolonged setback would mean increased job security for Joe Musgrove and Mike Fiers in the Astros' rotation.

McHugh's ERA has gone up in three consecutive seasons, from 2.73 in 2014, to 3.89 in 2015 and then 4.34 last year. The same is true of his WHIP, which rose to 1.41 across 184 2/3 innings in 2016.
