Mets 'have looked at' free agent pitcher Doug Fister

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the New York Mets "have looked at" former Houston Astros starting pitcher Doug Fister.

What It Means:

With injuries to Steven Matz and Seth Lugo, the Mets could use some extra options for their rotation in case the injury bug continues to hit their pitching staff. Fister has been looking for a major league contract but will likely have to settle for a minor league stint since he missed all of spring training and will need some time to get stretched out.

Fister went 12-13 with a 4.64 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and .276 opponents' batting average in 180 1/3 innings for Houston in 2016.
