Alex Bregman, others sitting out Thursday's finale for Houston
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Seattle Mariners.
After their 13-inning marathon affair on Wednesday, the Astros are electing to give Bregman and some of the other starters the day off. Marwin Gonzalez will man third for Houston as they look to open up the 2017 season with a sweep of the Mariners.
The day off should do Bregman well, as he's gone just 2-of-12 (.167 percent) through the first three games of the season. Going forward, numberFire's models project him to record a .271 batting average over the remainder of the year.
