Justin Upton day-to-day for Tigers with knee contusion

Detroit Tigers outfielder Justin Upton is day-to-day with a left knee contusion.

What It Means:

Upton suffered the injury in the sixth inning of Tuesday's season-opener against the Chicago White Sox. It doesn't sound like anything too serious, but he's unlikely to be available for Wednesday's matinee in Chicago. Tyler Collins replaced Upton in left field on Tuesday.

Upton is currently projected to hit .259 with 29 home runs, 89 RBI's and 11 stolen bases across 628 plate appearances over the remainder of the season, according to numberFire's models.
