Jon Gray taking mound for Rockies on Opening Day

Colorado Rockies pitcher Jon Gray will be the team's Opening Day starter, manager Bud Black said.

What It Means:

An MRI came back clean after Gray was forced to leave last Friday's Cactus League start due to discomfort in a toe on his left foot. He struck out seven over six minor league innings Wednesday, so all seems well. The 25-year-old right-hander turned in a 4.61 ERA in 20 starts (168 innings) last season.

Gray is expected to go 10-10 across 169 2/3 innings this season while recording a 4.14 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 24.7 strikeout percentage, based on numberFire's projections.
