Mariners' Drew Smyly won't pitch Friday due to arm issue
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Drew Smyly won't make his scheduled appearance on Friday due to an unspecified arm issue.
Little is known, but manager Scott Servais said Smyly "didn't feel great" and had a "soggy arm" coming out of his most recent bullpen session. It's concerning news for the 27-year-old left-hander with the season less than a week away. He was limited to just 12 starts in 2015 due to a torn labrum.
Without accounting for a potential absence, numberFire's metrics believe Smyly will record a 4.07 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 23.0 strikeout percentage across 165 2/3 innings in 2017.
