Minnesota Twins pitcher Ervin Santana has been announced as the starter for Opening Day.
Santana was the only starter in Minnesota's rotation to post an ERA below 5.00 last season, so this doesn't come as any surprise. The 34-year-old right-hander recorded a 3.38 ERA over 30 starts (181 1/3 innings), but he finished with a 7-11 record for the last place Twins.
numberFire's models expect Santana to improve his record to 11-10 this season while turning in a 3.97 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 18.9 strikeout percentage over 192 2/3 innings.
