Scott Kazmir won't open season in Dodgers' rotation
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Scott Kazmir (hip) will not open the season in the starting rotation, manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's Cactus League game.
Kazmir struggled through his first start in nearly three weeks, failing to pack any punch on his fastball while surrendering three earned runs over three innings. Afterwards, the 33-year-old left-hander admitted that his hip is still bothering him and that he doesn't feel like he has his lower half. Now set to open the year on the Dodgers' disabled list, Kazmir shouldn't be on anyone's draft boards.
numberFire's algorithms currently expect Kazmir to record a 4.00 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 22.7 strikeout percentage across 135 innings in 2017 while posting a 9-7 record.
