Kolten Wong would rather Cardinals trade him than platooning at second

St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong said Sunday that he would "100 percent" rather be traded than be platooned at second base.

What It Means:

"I honestly don't give a (censored)," Wong replied when asked about comments made by manager Mike Matheny on Saturday that the club would consider a platoon at second base this season. He added that he doesn't want to be "wasting my time" in St. Louis if the club doesn't have faith in him. Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said back in November that he expects Wong to open 2017 as the starter at second, but a .182/.265/.250 slash this spring probably hurt his cause.

Wong is projected to hit .260 across 433 plate appearances next season, according to numberFire's models, with 9 home runs, 44 RBI's and 10 stolen bases.
