Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez will be shut down for 3-4 weeks after being diagnosed with a sprained Lisfranc ligament in his right foot.
Martinez was able to avoid surgery, but he won't be able to participate in major league action for a while. In the meantime, Steven Moya will take over at first for Detroit.
Prior to the injury, numberFire's models expected Martinez to record a .284 batting average and .862 OPS during the 2017 season, but that's based on 573 plate appearances.
