Twins' Trevor May says he will undergo Tommy John surgery
Minnesota Twins reliever Trevor May will undergo Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.
May suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament and after receiving a second opinion on Tuesday, he announced via Twitter that he would be receiving surgery. The 27-year-old right-hander likely won't be available until after the start of the 2018 season.
May twirled a 5.27 ERA across 42 2/3 innings last season, but his 3.47 xFIP and 32.1 strikeout percentage were both career-bests.
