Devin Mesoraco (hip, shoulder) not confident he'll be ready for Reds' opener
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco (hip, shoulder) conceded on Monday that he might not be ready for Opening Day.
Mesoraco is rightfully prioritizing his longevity for the season over his availability on Opening Day, referring to the date as "arbitrary." He's barely seen the plate in Cactus League play, so there's still some progress to be made. With a disabled stint seeming likely, look for Tucker Barnhart to open the year as Cincinnati's starting backstop.
As of now, numberFire's models project Mesoraco to hit .232 next season with 11 home runs and 36 RBI's across 320 plate appearances.
