Orioles close to minor league deal with Pedro Alvarez
The Baltimore Orioles are nearing a deal with first baseman/third baseman Pedro Alvarez on a minor league contract, Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports reports.
The 30-year-old slugger hasn't generated much interest on the free agent market in 2016. Re-signing with the O's and reprising the same role that he held last year seems like the best opportunity for him and fantasy owners alike at this stage.
Alvarez hit .249/.322/.504 with 22 homers and 49 RBI in 376 plate appearances last year. Our algorithms project him for a .250/.322/.500 slash line in 323 plate appearances, with 18 home runs and 45 RBI's. All of this is dependent on his earning a big-league contract.
