Angels' Albert Pujols (foot) cleared for Friday spring debut

Los Angeles Angels first basemen Albert Pujols (foot) has been cleared to make his Cactus League debut on Friday.

What It Means:

Pujols underwent surgery in December to alleviate some of the pain in his foot from chronic Plantar Fasciitis. He has been hitting, fielding, and doing defensive drills for weeks but Thursday was the first time he participated in baserunning drills. The 37-year-old is expected to be the Angels full-time designated hitter.

Pujols looked a bit rejuvenated in 2016 as he posted a slash line of .268/.323/.457 while slugging 31 HR and 119 RBI last season.
