Indians' Michael Brantley (shoulder) hits in simulated game

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley (shoulder) hit in a simulated game on Monday with no issues.

What It Means:

The focus is on Brantley's surgically-repaired shoulder and biceps, but they held up just fine. He's getting closer, but manager Terry Francona acknowledged that the Indians want to "keep him back," rather than just rushing him to be ready for Opening Day.

Brantley only played 11 games in the majors last season, and he did not hit well, slashing .231/.279/.282 in 43 plate appearances. He posted a .389 wOBA in 2014 and followed it up with a .368 wOBA in 2015.
