Devon Travis may open year on Blue Jays' disabled list
Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Tuesday that he's unsure when second baseman Devon Travis (knee) will make his spring debut.
"I expected him, to be honest, to be a little further along...we’re going to be cautious," said Gibbons. Travis required arthroscopic surgery for his right knee back in mid-November, and while he hasn't officially been ruled out for Opening Day, there seems to be a real chance he opens 2017 on the disabled list.
Travis slashed .300/.332/.454 with a .337 wOBA and .154 ISO last season -- all of which were a regression from his rookie campaign. His 11 home runs and 50 RBI's across 432 plate appearances was a slight improvement.
