Boston's David Price doesn't need surgery

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price (elbow) will be shut down for the next 7-10 days but does not need surgery after receiving a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

What It Means:

The entire New England area just breathed a long sigh of relief with this news. Price felt some discomfort in his elbow and after an inconclusive MRI, he checked out fine at his second opinion with Dr. Andrews. His status for Opening Day still seems to be in question, but John Farrell referred to the news as the "best case scenario," so at this point there is no need to panic.

Our models project Price for a 14-10 record with 214 innings pitched, 214 strikeouts, a 3.41 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.
