Nationals could release Derek Norris
The Washington Nationals might choose to release catcher Derek Norris according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
What It Means:
After signing Matt Wieters the Nationals have little need for Norris' services behind the plate. If Washington releases him by March 15th, they would only be on the hook for one sixth of his $4 million salary.
Norris had just a .186/.255/.328 slash line over 458 plate appearances for the Padres in 2016. He had 14 homers and 42 RBI's over 125 games.
