Red Sox's Hanley Ramirez will not play in WBC
Boston Red Sox first baseman/designated hitter Hanley Ramirez has pulled out of the World Baseball Classic due to ongoing shoulder soreness.
Ramirez is only feeling discomfort when he throws, so there is no issue when he hits. There is no reason for Ramirez to risk further injury by playing in the WBC, but he will remain in Red Sox camp as he transitions to the team's full-time DH.
Our models project Ramirez for a .277 batting average with 24 homers, 87 RBI's and nine stolen bases over 575 plate appearances this season.
