Hunter Pence (oblique) is cleared for Giants' Cactus League opener
San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence (oblique) is "ready to go" for Friday's Cactus League opener, manager Bruce Bochy said.
Pence is dealing with an intercostal injury initially sustained prior to the start of spring camp. He took part in batting practice on Wednesday, though, and there doesn't seem to be any reason for long-term concern. Said Bochy, "I’ll make that call [Thursday] once I talk to the staff, but Hunter assured me he’s a full go with no limitations."
Pence's 2016 season saw him rack up just 442 plate appearances in 106 games. He was great for fantasy when healthy, though, with a .289/.357/.451 triple slash line and 13 home runs in that span.
